After reviewing recent opinions and historical references to Marrakech Salón, we found one of the places that most clearly preserves the personality of queer nightlife in the Historic Center. Reviews repeatedly describe a relaxed, mixed and unpretentious atmosphere, with music that can jump from pop and electronic tracks to cumbia, salsa or sing-along classics. The idea of a “reliable favorite” also comes up often: several people say they have returned for years because of the energy, the shows and prices they consider more down-to-earth than at other nightlife spots.
Not everything is comfortable. We think it is important to say that the space is small and, when it fills up, moving around, ordering or finding a place to stand can become difficult. That is exactly why we recommend arriving early if you want to experience it more calmly. We include it not only because of its current popularity, but because it opened in 2008 and is part of the recent history that turned República de Cuba into a visible LGBTQ+ nightlife corridor in the Historic Center.
- Historic LGBTQ+ atmosphere without too much pretension.
- Prices many reviewers consider reasonable.
- Varied music and programming with shows.
- Central location on República de Cuba.
- The space is small and can feel very crowded.
- Arriving early helps on busy nights.
- The experience changes considerably depending on the event and time.
